The Artist and The Muse
In going back as far as my memory allows, which is pretty damn far. I can recall that I have been immersed within the world of communicating through the arts and creative expression; whether that be through visual art, movement and play, creating aesthetics and interior decorating, music, cooking, fashion design and style, creative writing, and so much more. Even in the most mundane of forms, art and creativity are pivotal parts of everyday life. For me, art and creativity are the manifestations of the pulling together of different disciplines, frameworks, and life experiences to make meaning and tell stories through the use of materials, physical energy, emotion, and spirit. To create is to live, to connect, to think for self, to reflect, to be present, and grow. Even through perceived periods of creative drought, creativity always finds me and comforts me in its various forms. I realize that, art and I, can never stand to be separate for too long. Even if I’m running from it or felt I’ve lost my way, creativity waits until I regain my footing. Until I’m well again.
Embodying being an artist and a muse, simultaneously, resonates so heavily with me simply because:  life imitates art and art imitates life. The two are perfectly interdependent. So, I am that which I create. I am a multi-faceted human being and spirit, living a life that is depth filled and complicated. Therefore I am a multi-faceted and multi-disciplinary artist, whose work and interests can not be defined under one discipline or focus.
These are the pieces of me, word to Ledisi.
